Description
The daughter of the American saxophonist Glenn Spearman, singer Rose was raised with music. During a set by DJ Tony Humphries in New York, she spontaneously jumped onto the stage and grabbed the microphone to whip up the dancing crowd. Collaborations with internationally renowned DJs such as David Morales, Roger Sanchez and Roog followed. Her debut Trust was released in 2002, produced by King Britt, James Poyser and Vikter Duplaix. However, the CD failed to live up to the high commercial expectations and Rose joined the Dutch deejay collective Kraak & Smaak.
For Livin ‘It she went a lot more raw than her rather polished debut. This is largely due to the collaboration with her friend, producer and keyboardist Sven Figee who, especially with his Hammond organ, has a warm, brooding ground for Rose’s funky vocals. She received further cooperation and encouragement from Sandra St. Victor, singer of the Family Stand, which she admired so much. With Livin ‘It, Rose has become one of the few true soul singers in our country. (AD)
